Terrazzo (Italian for “terrace”) dates back 8,000 years, to the Venetians. As a cost-cutting measure, construction workers would take smashed marble chips and set them in clay. These days terrazzo is made with chips of marble, quartz, granite, or even glass set into a matrix of concrete or epoxy resin. The chips can actually be quite large, and the matrix and the aggregate can be almost any color you can imagine, which makes for a myriad of design possibilities.
Terrazzo creates a lot more interest than using plain grey concrete. A soft green tone for the wall or a subtle colour tone acts as neutral for the walls. Add minimal matte black finishings for a raw look.
You can always add wood to warm up the space and balances the look.
The colours in the terrazzo on the back wall give a playful contrast to the neutral and raw surroundings.
Terrazzo tiles bring an artistic retro statement in your home.
Another reason for considering the terrazzo tiles for the bathroom is its durability and strength.
